Eagle Tool & Machine Company launches implementation of SEA’s Lean Enterprise System

Irvine, California – June 9, 2006 - President C. William Brougher announced Eagle Tool & Machine Company’s launch of the Supplier Excellence Alliance (SEA) Lean Enterprise System (LES).

The LES is the industry standard business system being adopted by aerospace, defense, and space suppliers to help the U.S. supply chain become more competitive. The LES helps suppliers build new capabilities that will enable them to become more competitive and better support the emerging needs of their customers. The LES also builds a culture where lean production principles and standard work are applied throughout the organization to ensure sustained improvements in delivery and quality while reducing lead times and cost.

Eagle Tool & Machine Company specializes in the manufacture of landing gear components and assemblies for large military and commercial aircraft. Typical products include nose and main landing gear pistons and cylinders for aircraft such as the C-5B and the F-15C/D, and assemblies such as the complete F-18C/D Nose Landing Gear. Eagle was founded in 1939 and has facilities in Springfield, Ohio and Cleveland, Ohio. Eagle is AS9100 and ISO 9001:2000 certified.

Brougher is enthusiastic about the improvements SEA’s Lean Enterprise System will bring. He stated, “Eagle’s core business is characterized by low volume and diverse products requiring complex machining and extensive outside processing. The Lean Enterprise System’s Aerospace Flow Model addresses all of our challenges. We realize implementation will require company wide efforts and dedication. However, the benefits of reduced inventories, reduced lead-times, and improved quality will ensure Eagle’s future competitiveness.”

SEA is the Joint Program Office for the aerospace, defense, and space industries’ supply chain conversion. As a non-profit alliance of leading industry prime contractors, SEA’s purpose is to accelerate supply chain performance and help U. S. suppliers become more competitive. SEA member companies include BAE Systems, The Boeing Company, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman Company, United Technologies, Parker Aerospace, Rockwell Collins, Pratt & Whitney, Hamilton Sundstrand, Sikorsky Aircraft, Textron, Bell Helicopter, Cessna Aircraft, Honeywell, TW Metals, Space Systems Loral, Bombardier, Hitco Carbon Composites, Firth Rixson, Dresser- Rand, Roberts Tool Company, Cristek Interconnects and Tyco Electronics.
