Supplier Excellence Alliance (SEA) Introduces the National Directory of Premier Aerospace, Defense and Space Suppliers

Irvine, California – September 8, 2006 – Supplier Excellence Alliance (SEA) Board Chairman, Michael Beason, announced the initial publication of SEA’s National Supplier Directory. “This is the first time the industry itself has published a list of its premier supplier companies.”

SEA is the joint program office for the aerospace, defense, and space industry supply chain conversion. As a non-profit alliance of leading industry contractors, SEA’s purpose is to accelerate supply chain performance and help U. S. suppliers become more competitive.

The new National Supplier Directory lists those supplier companies that are engaged in implementing the Lean Enterprise System, the uniform business system adopted by Alliance members to deploy lean production throughout the supply chain and build new capabilities that are essential to meeting emerging customer requirements. “Companies listed in the National Supplier Directory are demonstrating their commitment to accelerating their lean investments and expanding their capabilities. The National Supplier Directory provides unprecedented visibility for these suppliers as it serves as a source for customers to select the suppliers they want as partners,” adds Beason.

Criteria for National Supplier Directory listing includes:
Suppliers making a significant and continuing investment in workforce development and operational improvements
Suppliers showing extraordinary leadership involvement in planning and change management
Suppliers building an infrastructure for process control including process owners and champions
Suppliers adopting the industry Roadmap for improvement
Suppliers posting quarterly reports on their progress

The National Supplier Directory will be updated and published quarterly and serve the industry’s buying community in several important ways. In addition to listing only those suppliers that meet the industry criteria for supplier performance, it will provide a quick reference of the commodities provided by each supplier, and a reference to the other certifications each supplier has achieved, such as AS9100.
