Montana Metal Products launches implementation of the Supplier Excellence Alliance Lean Enterprise System

Irvine, California – February 23, 2007 – Montana Metal Products LLC (MMP), located in Des Plaines, Illinois, is launching the implementation of the Supplier Excellence Alliance (SEA) Lean Enterprise System.

As a non-profit alliance of leading industry prime contractors, tier-ones, and suppliers, SEA’s purpose is to accelerate supply chain performance and help U. S. suppliers become more competitive. The Lean Enterprise System (LES) is the industry standard business system being adopted by aerospace, defense, and space suppliers. The LES helps suppliers build new capabilities that will enable them to better support the emerging needs of their customers. The LES also builds a culture where lean production principles and standard work are applied throughout the organization to ensure sustained improvements in delivery and quality while reducing lead times and cost.

Montana Metal Products is a precision sheet metal fabricator and machine shop, founded in 1957 and acquired by its current owners in January 1996. MMP has expanded into a 97,500 square foot building, which currently runs two shifts, employing over 145 people. MMP’s strength is the manufacture of custom close tolerance, light gauge sheet metal fabrication in all alloys. MMP offers design assistance and processing from inception to prototype and into full production. In machining, MMP specializes in extremely complex close tolerance parts in many different alloys. Over the years, MMP has prided itself on superb quality manufacturing. MMP is certified to military standard l-45208 and has earned “Top Supplier” awards by many major manufacturers. MMP is certified to ISO9002:2000.

According to Charles P. Kelley, MMP’s Vice President for Continuous Improvement, “Everyone at MMP is committed to and exited about the focus and continuous business system improvements that will result from the implementation of the SEA LES business system. The bars have been raised with all of our customers, in all the industries we serve. The LES will provide a solid foundation to ensure that we meet the future expectations of our customers.”
