Schlosser Forge Company Begins the Next Phase of the
Supplier Excellence Alliance Lean Enterprise System
Irvine, California – March 14, 2007 – Schlosser Forge Company, located in Rancho
Cucamonga, California, announced its second engagement with the Supplier Excellence Alliance (SEA) to continue implementation of the SEA Lean Enterprise System.
As a non-profit alliance of leading industry prime contractors, tier-ones, and suppliers, SEA’s
purpose is to accelerate supply chain performance, helping U. S. suppliers become more
competitive. The Lean Enterprise System (LES) is the continuous improvement system
developed by aerospace, defense, and space suppliers. The LES helps suppliers build new
capabilities that will enable them to better support the emerging needs of their customers. The
LES also builds a culture where lean production principles and standard work are applied
throughout the organization to ensure sustained improvements in delivery and quality while
reducing lead times and cost.
CSchlosser Forge Company, a division of Firth Rixson Limited, is manufacturer of seamless ring
forgings. The primary customers of SFC consist of the OEM’s of aircraft engines such as
General Electric, Rolls-Royce, Snecma and Pratt & Whitney. SFC was founded in 1970 and was
acquired by Firth Rixson Limited in 2004. SFC’s facilities consist of 260,000 sq. ft. of floor space
under roof on an 18 acre site. The division has 278 employees working on three shifts. The
majority of SFC’s products are made from nickel and titanium superalloys. SFC’s strength lies in
its ability to manufacture large rings with complex contours. SFC works closely with its OEM
customers to design contoured forgings that are near net shape. The near net shape forgings
optimize the use of metal and reduce costs. SFC’s maintains a stringent quality system that
holds a host of approvals.
According to Aaron Johnson, Director of Operations, “The entirety of SFC is committed to and
